Conference Themes
This year’s conference will focus on two key themes:
- Skills for Tomorrow’s Lawyer – exploring the human, leadership and technical capabilities needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving legal landscape. Topics may include communication, advocacy, leadership, wellbeing, business development, technology, AI, ethics, and career development.
- Innovation, Impact and Influence – showcasing how legal professionals can drive innovation, shape the future of the sector and deliver meaningful outcomes for clients, organisations and communities. Topics may include access to justice, legal technology, organisational change, thought leadership, regulatory developments, social impact and professional influence.
We welcome proposals that align with either theme and encourage submissions that are practical, engaging and thought-provoking. Sessions should offer clear takeaways for delegates and reflect the diversity, expertise and ambition of today's legal profession. Sessions can be delivered individually or with a group; not all participants need to be CILEX members.
What we’re looking for
We’re seeking workshops or sessions that:
- Provide practical insight, tools or techniques that delegates can apply in their career or practice.
- Explore emerging trends, opportunities and challenges facing the legal sector.
- Share examples of innovation, leadership or best practice.
- Support professional development and career progression.
- Encourage discussion, collaboration and audience participation.
How to submit
Please submit the following information:
Session Title: A clear and engaging title for your preferred session
Conference Theme: Please indicate which of the two conference themes your session aligns with.
Session Synopsis (Max 550 words):
Please provide a summary outlining:
- The key focus and objectives of the session.
- The main topics that will be covered.
- The key messages or learning outcomes for delegates.
- Any interactive elements or audience engagement you plan to include.
Speaker Information: Please include:
- Your name and membership grade
- Your membership number
- Your current role and organisation
- A brief professional biography (max 150 words)
Submission deadline
Please submit your proposal to events@cilex.org.uk by Friday 25 September. All submissions will be reviewed by the Conference Steering Committee, and selected speakers will be contacted following the review process. We look forward to hearing your ideas and working with members to create an engaging, forward-thinking and impactful conference programme for 2027.
