Sarah Sackman KC MP is the Minister of State for Courts and Legal Services at the Ministry of Justice, a role she assumed in December 2024.

Minister Sackman previously served as Solicitor General for England and Wales from July to December 2024 and was elected as the Labour MP for Finchley and Golders Green in July 2024. 

Called to the Bar in 2008, Sarah built a distinguished legal career focusing on environmental, public, planning, and housing law. She practiced at Francis Taylor Building and later Matrix Chambers, where she took on cases of significant public interest, including challenges to voter ID regulations and environmental justice initiatives. 

Born and raised in East Finchley, London, Sarah read History at Queen's College Cambridge, before obtaining a Graduate Diploma in Law at City, University London, and an LLM from Harvard Law School, where she specialised in urban policy, housing, and poverty law. 

Sarah's legal expertise and public service are underpinned by a deep commitment to access to justice and reforming the courts system. In her ministerial role, her portfolio includes oversight of the Criminal Courts recovery, Court reform and digitalisation, Legal Aid, Tribunals policy, and Civil Justice transformation.
